Fun.

Creating grand, flamboyant, soaring pop, New York trio fun. lit up the charts with their singalong anthems and became one of the big breakthrough bands of 2012. Formed by front man Nate Ruess (formerly of indie band The Format), the band took inspiration from Queen and ELO and sought to craft vintage melodies straight from the '70s and '80s on debut album 'Aim and Ignite' (2009). Though it was well received by critics, the record only pottered around the lower reaches of the Billboard charts, but the band's profile grew with steady touring and a collaboration with Panic! At the Disco on the single 'C'mon'. Their big break came when their track 'We Are Young' featuring Janelle Monae was used in the hit musical TV show Glee and in a car commercial that aired during half time of the Super Bowl. The single became one of the biggest hits of the year, topping the US and UK charts and selling over seven million copies, while album 'Some Nights' (2012) went on to reach number three in the US and earn the band six Grammy Award nominations. In 2013, fun. digitally released a live EP titled 'Before Shane Went to Bangkok: Live in the USA' which included songs from 'Aim and Ignite' and 'Some Nights' and was released on vinyl the following year. They announced a hiatus in 2015 to focus on solo projects.
